South Island Championship 2023

Format: 8 Round Swiss, standard time limit of Game in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move. NZCF and FIDE rated. NZ Master points awarded.

Schedule: 27 September to 30 September. Play will commence at 9am and 2:30pm each day. Prize-giving after finish of the final round.

Venue: The Brydone Hotel Oamaru, 115 Thames Street, Oamaru, North Otago 9400.

Entry Fees: $90 Adult, $50 Junior (under 20 at 1 January 2023). Entries accepted up until 26 September 2023. Players must register in person or by text with organiser between 7:30am and the players’ meeting at 8:30am on 27 September to be paired in the first round. Late Entry fee of $10 will apply after 13 September.

Schedule: Sunday 1 October. Player's meeting 9:00am. Play will commence at 9:30pm. Prize-giving approximately 6:00pm.

Otago Westpac Trophy Open Rapid Tournaments

Format: 6 Round Swiss, rapid time limit of 20 minutes for the game with a 5 second delay for each move (Bronstein). NZCF rated. (New Zealand players who participate in two or more NZCF rated tournaments in a year are required to be a member of an NZCF Affiliate or Associate Chess Club)

Schedule: Clubrooms open from 11:00am for Entries accepted up until Players’ meeting at 12:00pm. Play will commence at 12:30pm. Prize-giving approximately 5:30pm.

Venue: Otago Chess Club, 7 Maitland Street, Dunedin.

Playing conditions: Wearing of Covid face masks inside the playing area is recommended.

Entry Fees: $20 each tournament
