Otago Interschool Teams Chess Championship 2025 Run according to the NZ Chess Federation Interschool Championship rules Dates and Venue: Two separate tournaments: Intermediate and Primary on 17 May at Trinity Catholic College in Dunedin (See final 2025 Scores Primary and Intermediate), Secondary on 24 May at Logan Park HS in Dunedin (See final 2025 Scores Secondary) - see the entry form for details Schedule: Players meeting at 12:30pm. Players may enter as individuals or as a team of three players from the same school. Parents of children under 9 years old must contact the DOP before they enter their child in the event. Format: Six games in total, limit of 20 minutes thinking time per player in each game. Schedule: Players meeting at 1.00pm. NB Late entries (after 1.00pm) may not be accepted. Prize-giving shortly after 5.00pm. Parents/caregivers are requested to be at the venue by 5.15pm Prize Fund: There will also be prizes for leading place holders as well as special prizes including the best girl and best school team. form See 2024 final crosstable and team scores Otago Junior (Under 20) Chess Championship 2025Date: Saturday 23 August 2025 Venue: Otago Chess Club, 7 Maitland Street, Dunedin (by The Oval playing fields) Format: 6 Round Swiss, rapid time limit of 25 minutes for the game. Schedule: Players meeting at 12.00pm. Late entries (after 12.00pm) may not be accepted. Play will commence 12.30pm. Prize-giving shortly after 5.50pm. All parents/caregivers are asked to be at the venue by 6.00pm. Director: The Tournament Director will be Quentin Johnson (Otago Chess Club Junior Development Officer) Eligibility: This event is open to all juniors (under 20 on 1 January 2025) residing in the Otago/Southland region. Players may enter as individuals or as a team of three players from the same school. Parents of children under 10 must contact the DOP before they enter their child in the event. Prize Fund: The prize fund will be contingent on entries. Cash prizes to Otago/Southland title-holders (Open, Under 16, Under 13 champions). NZ Master points awarded. Schedule: 24 September to 27 September. Play will commence at 9:30am and 3:00pm each day. Prize-giving after finish of the final round. Venue: The Leviathan Heritage Hotel, 27 Queens Gardens, Dunedin 9054. Entry Fees: $100 Adult, $55 Junior (under 20 at 1 January 2025). Entries accepted up until 17 September 2025. Players must check-in in person or by text with organiser between 8:00am and the players meeting at 9:00am on 27 September to be paired in the first round. Late Entry fee of $5 will apply after 10 September and Early bird discount of -$5 until 30 June. Note: Venue capacity is 70 players and preference will be given in order of payment of entry fee.

Otago Westpac Trophy Open Rapid Tournaments Format:
6 Round Swiss, rapid time limit of 20 minutes for the game with a 5 second delay for each move (Bronstein). NZCF rated. New Zealand players who participate in two or more NZCF rated tournaments in a year are required to be a member of an NZCF Affiliate or Associate Chess Club. If you are not a member of a club and your second event is one of these rapid opens, the Otago Chess Club will register you to the NZCF as a probationary Otago member for $20 added to your entry fee. Schedule:
Clubrooms open from 11:00am for Entries accepted up until Players' meeting at 12:00pm, but if entries exceed 40 players, those who have registered by email ahead of the day will be given preference. Play will commence at 12:30pm. Prize-giving approximately 5:30pm. Venue:
